The team
Connected is often described as a “weird place to work”. Maybe something to do with the flat, open and honest structure. Maybe something to do with the amount of fun and (light) banter that rattles around the place. Maybe it’s that everyone in the company works flexible hours. Maybe it’s the mix of people that work here, their culture and values. Love ‘em all
We’re always on the look-out for the best technical and great customer services people. It you’re interested in working with us then have a look through our current list of positions vacant.
Aaron Trevena – Technical Lead

Aaron Trevena has been “doing internet stuff” since he first connected in an empty computer lab at university back in 1995. Despite wasting far too much time on BBS, MUDs and exploring UNIX and networks he graduated with a BSc (with Honours) in Computer Systems & Networks, after frying a lot of circuitboards, damaged his eyesight using oscilloscopes and green screens all night to meet deadlines.
Since university he had fun on roller-coaster of the dot.com bubble, enjoying time working at trendy web agencies in London and Bristol before moving back home to Cornwall, where he now lives with his Espresso machine, wife, 2 children, cat and a (now much reduced) collection of obselete computers and assorted electronic gadgets.
Andrew Stubberfield – Head of Finance

It’s like herding cats – keeping this fast changing and energetic company on the right track takes all of my 30+ years of experience as a plc financial director. Whilst having fun is good, staying profitable and clear of borrowing whilst maintaining a healthy cash-flow is what I do along with keeping our CEO on top of management accounts and beating our accountants into submission every year-end!
Andy Holland – Head of Customer Services

It’s my job to keep our clients, partners and our team happy and generally keep things running smoothly. Occasionally it can prove challenging and more like herding cats! My plan over the next year or two is to streamline our processes making us more efficient, productive and fun!
I love being part of Connected and working with some really cool, unique guys. Music is a big part of my life, so the the rest of the time I can be found listening to it or playing my guitar. Otherwise I’ll be out on my motorbike or down the pub!
Colin Griffiths

I concentrate on form whilst the rest of the team perfect function. Overseeing things with a creative eye to add an element of subtle style and visual vitality.
Spare time is currently spent renovating our newly acquired house – trying to get it back to its 1930s Art Deco splendor. A labour of love.
Doug Read – Client Support
Connected is an extraordinarily forward thinking company with very clever people doing very clever things. It is the perfect environment to demonstrate my expertise and learn some more.
I love music and have recently completed a Masters degree in Electro-Acoustic Composition. I ride motorbikes and read books.
Jeanette Dower – Accounts

Our clients are all great, making my job in day-to-day accounting (invoicing, ledgers & debt management) pretty straightforward. I don’t pretend to know what we do technically and cannot fathom the ins and outs of what we sell but I’m proud to be working for a good company that has clients that seem to love us.
Fiercely proud to be Scottish and the current Secretary of the Yorkshire Scots Society.
Jerry Pank – Programmer

Founder: 53 years-young, whose first involvement in computers was building one with bags of discrete components and a soldering iron. [ UK101 ] Way back then, the only computer magazine was Byte, which had to be purchased directly from the States. Martin and I don’t quite go back that far, even though it feels like it sometimes.
Nowadays I take more of a back-seat role, with our now staggering array of young talent doing the lion’s share of the technical work. 14 years on, a company of this size and we have never borrowed a penny. Amazing!
White-water canoeing and wind-surfing have now been superseded by listening to great music, running my cooking web site, taking photos, riding my BMW bike and playing with Tom and Jerry.
John Hyde – Consultant

I get a kick from putting new ideas into action. Connected is the place for new ideas plus old ideas that still work well.
In my offline life I have climbed a mountain in the Himalayas, lectured in Computer Science, and I’m helping to train a guide dog.
Liam Rooney – Commercial and Production Director

Partner: A long career path in design, photography and print production has guided me to and engaged me in the “extraordinary” world of Connected. We really are good at what we do. We bring ideas and value to our clients and it is personally rewarding to have a part to play. Our team is a family and with the “cloud” based collaboration tools we employ, the family never leaves home. Our CEO’s vision ensures that all my creative urges are satisfied.
Wife, kids, wine, dog (Keef), garden, wine and Neal Young provide for all other essentials.
Martin Dower – CEO

Founder: Forty-something Internet junkie and speed freak (and recent Apple convert). Love my work so much I regard it as my hobby. Planning on changing the world and making the Net a far better place to be. Weekends I can be found riding my beloved Ducati or racing cars when budget and opportunity arises. Quite fancy the idea of sailing so maybe I’ll have a crack at that in 2010. I love to hear from our clients and potentials so drop me an email on martind@connected-uk.com or contact me via one of the social and business networks above.
Nick Storr – Account Manager

I have been at Connected since September 2009 as an Account Manager. My role consists of working closely with existing clients providing non technical support and making sure projects are running as smoothly as possible. Away from work I enjoy DJing, going to the gym and watching all the football Sky Sports has to offer.
Sam Hardacre – Programmer

Started out 6 years ago with Connected as a 17-year old novice. No longer a novice, I am still learning new things all the time.
Away from work I spend time watching movies and reading books ranging from fiction to graphic design.
Sean Robinson – Programmer

My interest in IT an all things technological stems from being around computers at a relatively young age. I have recently completed a BSc (Hons) in Business Computing – Internet Systems.
Away from work my hobbies include listening to and producing music, go-karting, boxing and watching sport.
Stephen Cardie – Programmer

I’m a moderately competent Perl hacker who has in the past worked for steel makers, internationally-renowned universities, computer-based training publishers, catalogue printers, sports websites and global telecommunications providers.
I’m also a father of three, and hence have no time for hobbies, interests, sleep or personal hygiene.
Tim Lingard – Programmer

After youthful stints as a performer, a goatherd and a nanny, I went into IT when it was still DP and a computer filled a room. I helped write the first software telexes for SMEs, and then faxes too; I was the 726th private individual to connect to internet in the UK in ‘92; ran France’s first b2b ISP in ‘96; worked for banks, trade unions, translators and shipping companies and ran my own business. I hitched my wagon to Connected a couple of years ago, seeing they were doing good work, the right way – a rare combination!
I enjoyed living in Hungary and France; now on the Pennine Way in North Yorkshire, I still also love my homeland in South Devon. To relax, I walk on the moors, listen to classical music or go to the football.
