VNX Senna (4.2) planned for Q4

Screen Shot 2013-08-31 at 14.45.02The release of VNX 4.1 went so smoothly that we’ve accelerated the release cycle for the next iteration of VNX. We’re proud to announce the next version will ship in beta at the end of this year (2013). Say hello, then, to …

VNX Senna (4.2) – Digital Services Framework

Techies have a habit of naming stuff, our development servers went through the entire cast of Simpsons (except, for some strange reason a pair named Chaos and Doom). We then moved onto names of mountains and it became such a game that anyone starting a new server tried to find more and more obscure names.

The fun, sadly, stopped when all new development, staging and production servers moved to the cloud with Amazon AWS in early 2011. As a result we’ve had a dearth of meaningless names to cheer up the darkened corners where development lies.

To brighten things up, we’ve just started naming beta releases of VNX, out digital services framework, after motor-racing greats. Our next release of VNX is therefore named after what was probably one of the greatest heroes ever to sit in a cockpit. Sadly, Ayrton Senna da Silva died in 1994 at the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola, Italy.

VNX 4.2 will offer a number of enhanced features including:

  • Support for WordPress 3.7 Application Framework
  • Improved language pack support
  • API support for third-party CRM applications including Salesforce, Highrise and SugarCRM
  • Push notifications to mobile devices
  • Bug fixes and performance enhancements

We’re also saying goodbye to previous (VITES) versions 2.4 and 3.0 will be finally dropped and the associated legacy code and support will be switched off. VITES 2.4 was released in 2008, 3.0 in 2010. We’ve been able to do this as the last customer on VITES (ironically on VITES 2.4) has completed their migration recently.

Important:

From December 31st 2013 Connected will no longer support the VITES Web Platform.
