Your guide to WordCamp US

WordCamp, a WordPress Gathering.

The inaugural WordCamp US event is in Philadephia. What can you expect and how to survive.

Philly is a great place, famous for being home to the Liberty Bell, the Declaration of Independence, and Philly cheesesteaks! It’s a great place, and for three days in early December it will play host to the first WordCamp US.

If you’ve visited the WordCamp SF event before (or any of the major WordCamps), then you’ll know what you’re in for – a weekend of WordPressness! We’ve been involved with most of the high-profile WordCamps since 2012, including London, San Francisco, New York, Europe and even Dayton, Ohio (don’t ask).

However, this is the new biggie stateside and if you can’t make this event we strongly recommend you try and attend at least one of the majors next year. Even if you can’t make it in person, you can stream the event live.

Philly is a fab city to visit (did you know it’s the only World Heritage City in the United States?) and steeped in history – so when you’re out and about, taking a day off or just stretching your legs there is plenty to see and do. Firstly, a word of warning – the weather gets cold this time of year, and you will often see snow so wrap up warm. Getting around is pretty easy, you can use Uber but failing that it has trolley cars and is also not too bad to walk around.

Oh, and you must try a Philly Cheesesteak.
