Goodnight Online Booking


It’s a sad day when we have to shut a service down, but after 3 years the Online Booking service is being closed down.

It relied on Google and it’s Google Calendar service which is undergoing dramatic changes in how it operates and it’s not commercially or technically viable for us to re-develop (again) to stay in step.

In the past, Google have allowed access to an older interface – this was initially planned to operate until November but it seems that the Google’s planned deprecation is affecting the service making it unreliable in operation.

It’s real shame but beautifully illustrates the life cycle of software, especially software-as-a-service that talks to, relies on and interoperates with other software-as-a-service. Was the writing on the wall? Maybe, Google have an awful habit of changing stuff without telling anyone, their premise is often “the service is provided free/in perpetual beta”.
